StudyBlock is a learning tool that combines the learning experience with the classical, thought-provoking game of Tetris. Create flashcards and explore study sets while playing at the same time!

Methodology

It turns out that Tetris may have a positive effect on our brains. If you've ever played Tetris for a long time, you may begin to envision shapes falling— even when you're not even playing!

This phenomenon is known as the "Tetris Effect" ¹ and may be linked to increasing the thickness of our cortexes,² volume of our hippocampal regions,³ and efficiency of our brains.⁴

Careful!

You can find yourself playing Tetris for a long time, especially when played in a competitive or multiplayer setting. StudyBlock is currently singleplayer-only and the appearance of flashcards should give the player momentary breaks from the game. However, it is still up to the user to curb their playing time!

What's next?

I am currently a sophomore in college and will try my best to work on StudyBlock when I can. New features to look forward to include:

• Multiplayer: Study flashcards together with friends
• Saving progress: Review missed flashcards and gain mastery
• Set previews: Preview sets when exploring
• Data pagination: Load data only when needed
